The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, 5 european countries, are planing an EU wide ban of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) among those substances is PTFE, Teflon.
Restrictions on PFAS are already in place in the USA, e.g. California, New York etc.
PFAS
the forever chemical is polluting the world
This is going to have a huge impact on food production.
it takes over 1000 years to decompose
it is very small - it does not know only borders
it can even be found in remote areas as Antartica and Himalaya
a lot of areas in Europe are heavily contaminated,
PFAS is found in soil, drinking water, plants, animals, humans, even in mother milk
researchers are linking it to
liver failures
cancer
infertility
etc.
The EU is planing a ban 96% on these forever chemicals, there are certain steps, according to the importance and replaceablity.
Currently it looks like food contact PTFE is going to be banned within 5 years.
Planing an investment in a teflon belt cooking line?
This is what you should consider:
how is the belt availability in the future?
how are your customers, e.g. supermarkets reacting to news headlines
PFAS (PTFE) causes cancer
PFAS (PTFE) causes kidney failures
PFAS (PTFE) is found in mother milk
does this comply to healthy foods?
does this comply with sustainablity?
does this comply with environmentally friendly?

It is suspected that PFAS can cause a multitude of harmful effects, even at very low doses, including cancers (kidney and testicle), endocrine disruption (thyroid), increased cholesterol levels, reduced fertility and delayed fetal development.."...
